AL MAWAKEB AL KHAWANEEJ
Article Week · Chemistry
Mon 02/11 – Fri 06/11/2026 · Grade 11 · Ms Rana
You are not writing an article. You are choosing the best one and showing you understand it.
What to do
1. Find one news article about chemistry and print it.
2. Label the top of the front page:
Name: ________
Class: ________ (e.g. 11A)
Teacher: Ms Rana
Class: ________ (e.g. 11A)
Teacher: Ms Rana
3. Read it. Highlight the number with units. On the back, write by hand:
- What happened, in one sentence.
- What that number means.
4. Hand it in between Monday 02/11 and Wednesday 04/11: drop it in the Article Box.
Your article must
- be a real news or science article from a named source (for example BBC, Reuters, The National, Gulf News, Khaleej Times, Chemistry World, Science News)
- be published in the last 2 years, with its headline, source and date showing
- be at least one full printed page of text (about 300 words or more)
- be about a real substance or reaction: a new material, a battery, a fuel, a medicine, pollution, food or water
- contain at least one number with units (a mass in g, a volume in mL, a temperature in °C, a concentration in mol/L…)
Not accepted
Formula sheets, textbook or worksheet pages, notes, Wikipedia, AI-written summaries, social media posts.
In class
Your teacher will use the articles in class during the week.
The prize
The best article choice in each grade wins:
- a certificate from Ms Rasha
- a short talk to the class: what the article says, what you learned, why you chose it
- a place on the Grades 9–12 Articles of the Week wall
Best choice = on topic, from a trusted source, and you clearly understood it.
